All Taiga Snowmobiles can be charged at Level 1 and Level 2. Level 3 (DC Fast Charging) is an optional extra.
Level 1 charging: 10 hours
Level 2 charging: 2 hours
Level 3 charging: 20 minutes
The Taiga snowmobile charger is compatible with standard EV plugs:
– SAE J1772 for North America version, with combo for Level 3 Charging
– Type 2 IEC for European version, with combo for Level 3 Charging -available adapters for direct to outlet connections
Taiga Snowmobiles can be charged at Level 1 at any 120VAC outlet (regular household outlet). Level 2 charging can be achieved at any EV charging station or at home if you have installed a Level 2 charger. Level 3 charging can only be achieved at Level 3 (DC-Fast Charge) stations.
Yes, as long as it has a standard charging plug (SAE J1772 or Type 2 IEC).
If you wish to achieve Level 2 charging at home, a Level 2 charger needs to be installed. While it is possible to install a Level 2 charger yourself, we always recommend you hire an electrician.
Taiga snowmobile can be charged by solar power as long as the power is supplied as standard 120VAC/240VAC.
Since the Taiga Snowmobile has an on-board charger, the only equipment necessary is a lightweight adapter cable allowing you to access Level 1 charging anywhere. This cable is included with each snowmobile and has a dedicated storage compartment.
Taiga’s systems have minimal vampire drain so that snowmobiles can be easily stored unplugged for several years.
Range is dependent on riding conditions, riding style & terrain. For average trail riding at 60km/h you should expect at least 100km of range with standard battery options.
Only Slightly. Lithium-ion batteries must be kept at a specific temperature in order to perform optimally. That is why all Taiga snowmobiles are equipped with an advanced thermal management system that is capable of either cooling or heating the battery pack in order to ensure it performs optimally. This way, Taiga snowmobile only lose 1-5% charge in extremely cold temperatures.
The system has been designed to be operated and be stored down to -40C.
Upcoming model-year vehicles will be fitted with battery packs ranging from 21 kWh to 28 kWh.
The TS3 platform offers a standard range models and extended range models with additional battery capacity.
The battery is closely integrated to the vehicle for maximum efficiency and durability under heavy impacts. Thus, hot-swapping batteries as an alternative to charging will not be available, however the battery is easily removable in the event it needs servicing.
Preheating the battery to a ready-to-ride temperature will take approximately 6 minutes from -30C. Additionally, as long as the sled is left plugged in (even on a 120V outlet), it will maintain the optimal battery temperature and will be immediately ready to ride.
The TS2 (Taiga Snow 2) was the second generation platform prototype snowmobile, built from the ground up and tested across North America. It has been continuously improved upon and has brought us to our final stage of development. The production units will be based on the TS3 platform.
Initially, 3 models will be available to suit all snowmobile applications: The Atlas is suitable for tail/crossover riding, the Ekko is suitable for deep snow and mountain riding, and the Nomad is suitable for sport-utility applications.
Taiga is currently developing a snow-cross race sled for competition this upcoming season on which the future trail model will be based.
Top speed varies depending on model and gear reduction. From 110 km/h (68 mph) to 160km/h (100mph).
Yes, 2-up seating will be an option and is standard on the Nomad utility model.
Our electric motor can generate more torque at low rpm than any combustion engine on the market. With standard gearing, that translates to as much as 500kg (1102lb) of raw pulling force at the rear hitch. However, towing capacity depends on many other factors such as available traction and the type of load being towed.
It will be possible to customize throttle response, power and torque outputs through the vehicles software to match every riders needs. A single machine can match the needs of novices and experts alike.
All Taiga snowmobile are equipped with grip- and thumb-warmers. Seat warmers are optional.
Taiga snowmobiles will come standard with an easy 12V auxiliries hookup for any conventional accessories. The system can supply up to 200W (16 Amps) continuously. This would have minimal impact on range.
We will offer a 12V winch as an option.
Future software updates will be offered free of charge.
