This upcoming 2019-2020 winter season, SkiStar will introduce Taiga electric snowmobiles to their vehicle fleet. This is the first step in plans for a larger scale roll-out of electric snowmobiles across SkiStar resorts.
Taiga’s selection of SkiStar as their first European testing partner is a testament to the Scandi ski operator’s commitment to more sustainable mountain operations. SkiStar’s electrification initiatives will help shape the future of snowmobiling and the industries they operate within.
“We have the privilege of operating and living in a unique environment with mountains and wilderness. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to take responsibility, strive to become more climate smart and reduce our environmental impact. To be the first European ski resort to invest in Taigas electric snowmobiles is an exciting and important step,” says Per Granås, Head of Purchasing at SkiStar.
The snowmobiles were designed from the ground up to produce an electric vehicle that offers the ultimate all terrain capability, durability and cost-effectiveness. Ski resort guests will also benefit from the reduced noise levels and absence of exhaust fumes.
“Meeting with the SkiStar team across resorts in Sweden and Norway last winter confirmed that there is a company wide dedication towards leading the charge for better winter sports,” comments Samuel Bruneau, CEO of Taiga Motors. “This is the type of organization that allows clean-tech solutions to take flight and create real impact.”
